Acceptable Green Waste Includes: Not Acceptable as Green Waste:

Limbs * Stumps
Branches (max 6" diameter) * Roots
Brush trimmings * Rocks
Grass Clippings * Decorative Bark
Pine Needles

****We prefer acceptable Green Waste not be bagged otherwise the bags must be emptied into the dumpster

Aukum Fairplay FireSafe Council Needs Your Help!

Several Council Members have had to retire recently from the Council, leaving several vacancies.
We need new Council Members willing to provide just a bit of time to help our community continue our fire safety work.

So what have we done for you!

1. Acquired Firewise Certification that allows for discounts on fire insurance.
2. Successfully gained a large grant to thin vegetation along our major roads, and a fuel break at Outingdale, work that will be starting in a few months.
3. Provide free defensible space and home hardening evaluations.
4. Provide reflective address signs to help emergency responders find you.
5. Distribute essential information and presentations or fire safety, evacuation, defensible space, home hardening, and more.
6. Free chipping Days for your cut vegetation.
7. And our parent organization, EL Dorado County FireSafe Council, provides free programs, including chipping, senior/vet/disabled defensible space work, and hazard tree programs. Our next Green Waste Day is May 17!!!

Our Firewise Certification

Our Firewise Certification has been renewed.

The National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Firewise USA® program teaches people how to adapt to living with wildfire and encourages neighbors to work together and take action now to prevent losses.

In order to receive designation as a Firewise Community, the Aukum Fairplay Fire Safe Council completed a risk assessment of the homes and businesses in their community, developed an action plan to address the identified risks and demonstrated investments in educational outreach vegetation removal during the last year. Earning the designation as a Firewise Community demonstrates their commitment to protecting the community from wildfire, helps guide future activities and provides support for potential funding opportunities.
